Back-to-School Safety Tips & Important Dates

Check out our key safety tips and important start dates for our districts and programs.

As we gear up for the new school year, we are filled with excitement and anticipation. Our schools are ready to welcome students back with open arms, and we want to ensure that everyone has a safe and successful start. Here are some important safety tips and key dates to keep in mind.

Safety Tips

  1. Bus Safety:
    • Watch for Buses: Be mindful of school buses making frequent stops. Remember to stop when the bus has its stop sign extended and red lights flashing.
    • Boarding and Exiting: Teach children to stand back from the curb while waiting for the bus and to board and exit the bus safely.
    • Seatbelts and Behaviors: If the bus has seatbelts, ensure children use them. Encourage good behavior on the bus to avoid distractions for the driver.
  2. Pedestrian Safety:
    • Crosswalks: Use crosswalks and obey traffic signals when walking to and from school.
    • Stay Alert: Remind children to stay alert and avoid distractions like phones or headphones while crossing streets.
  3. Driving Safety:
    • Speed Limits: Adhere to school zone speed limits and be extra cautious during school start and end times.
    • No Distractions: Avoid using mobile phones while driving in school zones.
